My blue hippo has developed a black marking on both sides of its face . Any idea as to what the cause could be?

Maybe adult markings, if they are the same on both sides.

If it looks like there are scales missing then I would say Head and Lateral line Disease.

If that is HLLE, then that is not a very bad case of it....I have seen some Blue Tangs that get black along the frontal head area....he looks good.

The big question......is he eating?
If so, not to many worries.
