August 2 shark program in Akron

All Mid-Ohio, Mansfield area marine hobbyists are welcomed to the GAAS August 2 meeting!


Nicole Schmid, a zoology student from Kent State University will give a PowerPoint talk and live demo on Sharks! Man-eaters or Really Neat Fish. Ms. Schmid will bring a live shark egg or two with her, although they will probably not be ready to hatch during the meeting.

August 2, 2007, Sharks! 8:00 PM, Free parking, free admission, refreshments, raffles, bowl show, and more. At the Mogadore Community-Senior Center, 3857 Mogadore Rd., just West of Rte. 532.

There were only about twenty five attending, summer blahs maybe. The first part of the program was a short overview on powerpoint of sharks from large to small, about 20 minutes. I think the best part of the program was when it became personal. Nicole has been very interested in sharks since she was six, and has geared her college education and vacations and hobbies toward her life goal of doing shark research.
