Oh, I'll definitely need a hand. Thanks for the offer and I'll be getting in touch. So far the old one is holding. But I'm setting up a temp holding facility this week and will be emptying and moving it out for repairs

Thanks for sharing. How long have you had some of your larger SPS?
Also, are you running three 250W HQI? If so, could I ask how long of a photoperiod you have.
I have two 250W on a 90 gal and I am wondering if I need to leave the lights on longer to get better color. Also, since some of my SPS have started to grow I have had to add 2-part supplements like crazy. I see you have a KR2 reactor. Are you happy with it, would you recommend a reactor for those of us who are new to SPS.

Thanks seanb for the kind words, it has been a while since we have spoke I think Round Table about year n half ago. Yes I am running 3- 250w HQI in PFO minis with 2 t-5's and 2 VHO's. I had been using 4 t-5's since I set the tank up but on last Sat did my 6 month bulb change out and up graded 2 to VHO's. I have the lights on 10 hrs VHO/T-5 8 hrs HQI's, VHO/T-5 on an hour before and after HQI's. I know when I look at the TOTM's seems most have longer photo periods. For me it is a happy medium between my elc bill and photo period.
The larger sps I have had not quite 2 years. The green slimer top left corner I have fraged a few times. The blueish one in the center same on time and fraging. I have also have this UBS (Ultimate Blue Stag) I bought from Greg Carrol down south in 01/06 I swear it still is the same size frag from the day I bought it.
The KR2 reactor that was a budget call when I was setting up the tank so much money was going out the reactor was an e-bay buy. Please do not get me wrong it does the job and I have been happy with it. I know Marshal (CAreefer) has or did have a MRC and was very happy with it. I guess if and when I will have to replace the KR2 it would be ether GEO or MRC reactor. I hope through my rambling I have answered your questions. Chat with you soon, Gary

Thanks for the info Gary. I have been running XM 10k's, but it is time for a bulb change and I think I am going to try the Ushio 14k. It looks like you are getting good growth with them and I really like their color. Some sps definitely seem to grow a lot faster than others. Can I ask what bulb you are using in your T-5's? Are they pure actinic or something else? Thanks for the Ca reactor info. I need to get my Ca/Alk to be more stable and it looks like a reactor may be the way to go.

Hey seanb the bulbs I use for the T-5's URI T5 V-HO Super Antinic Bulb and for the VHO's URI VHO Super Antinic Bulb. MarineDepot carries both bulb. I like the color the Ushio and the URI produce. I did have Phoenix 14k but I think with the URI's that would be just to blue for my taste. Hope this helps, Gary

P.S. seanb on the T-5 and VHO's I just started using them on Sat 7-21. I think the color looks great but in a week or two the corals aka sps will tell me if I am closer to having the right combo in bulbs. What looks good to me may not produce the best colors in them. If anything I have learned with sps faster to brown then to color. I think that's what keeps pushing me, my OCD to reach the best color possible in all of my tank, Gary
