I found a 14w 15" 18000K NO bulb for 10$, figured a couple of them would do nicely over my micro reef. By Aqua-Glo.
(But) I went to HD, the lady could tell me what kind of ballast to get (rapid fire, preheat etc.). Her recomendation was to get a 3$ preheat, wire it up, and if it didn't light, it was the other kind.
Wired it up, and it only lit on the ends, near the pins on both sides.
Can I assume that this is not the right ballast? or is the ballast bad? (does that happen with out melting it) Possibly the light is bad?
ie, whats my next step (beyond taking this ballast back, and talking to the lady again)
