Hi Randy,

I have a 60 gallon "grow out aquarium" that holds approximately 45 g of water that has only sps and tridacnids. The refugium contains 35 net gallons for a total of 80 net gallons. I tried kalk but it was too labor intensive as I was using single gallons and was evaporating 5g daily. I decided to switch to your 2 part formula #1 but have had to add 175ml of each daily to maintain appropriate alkalinity and calcium levels. I thought it would be easier to try a kalk reactor and purchased the aquamedic one but found that since it only held one cup of kalk I had to rinse and recharge it after 5 days. I was reading one of your articles (outstanding!) and am thinking of going back to kalk but would like to store it in a large rubbermaid covered container as per your recommendations. I have two questions:

Can I store the vinegar with the kalk for extended times, say two weeks?

Do you think, after reviewing my system demands that 3 tsp/g of kalk with the amount of vinegar you recommend would satisfy my system demands assuming that I can't evaporate any more water?

Thank you for all your wonderful work!

Karl
