I was told to see if anyone knows what this is in this section. I got it as a hitchhiker on a frag of zoas. It's grown a little in the past couple of weeks so I've gotten a little better picture. Colors are light blue and purple. It does have a small hard stem on the bottom. It has 2 rows of tentacles on the outside but not as close as found on zoas. It quickly eats anything you put around it but doesn't seem to be bothering the zoas. I've noticed now when I poke at it with something it has 2 vent holes that let it deflate very quickly. Please help!

Looks to me like a small anemone perhaps it has two mouths or is preparing to divide.

When its retracted is it entirely fleshy or does it have a coralite skeleton?

It has a small base and wouldn't an anemone bother the zoas? This does not seem to be.

An anemone wouldnt necessarily bother them, no more or less than an LPS coral might.

Its not an amemone, I would be willing to bet it has a round stoney base it grows from.

Yes, the base is round.

looks like a tonga mushroom but the stoney base rules that out.

Can you get it to retract and get a picture?

google Pseudocorynactis. Im willing to bet thats it. The Caribbean corallimorph. Non photosynthetic, reef safe, no special care needed.
