Welcome to The Cincinnati Marine Aquarium Society (CMAS). We are an independent not for profit society. This means our society is run by its members, for its members without any outside influences and without collecting any member dues. We are a free educational society dedicated to the husbandry of marine life in a captive environment. Through exchanging information with one another, we share our collective knowledge on the care and propagation of these wonderful ocean animals, while reducing the demand for wild caught specimens and providing an educational platform to promote the coral reef ecosystems. The society is committed to promoting interest in and enjoyment of all aspects of the marine aquarium hobby by educating the public on the creation and maintenance of a marine ecosystem.
Our society provides resources to the saltwater aquarium enthusiasts in the Cincinnati tri-state area by sponsoring meetings, educational seminars, online discussions, publications, websites, exhibits, and other means, as a social avenue to connect with other local hobbyists in the area. We support education and conservation efforts aimed at improving marine and coral reef environments.
The Cincinnati Marine Aquarium Society's goal is to be a fun yet useful resource to the reef keeping community. We promote and urge the practices of conservation, proper husbandry technique, ecological responsibility and friendship. In an effort to do that, our members and forum users are always willing to help out fellow reefers with just about anything. Our creed is group participation at every level and every member will be heard.

So you have a salt water aquarium, what now? if you are a beginner, you have read a few books, set up a tank and now you want to turn it up a notch. We can help you take this hobby to the next level.
If you are an expert aquarist or educator, and want to be more involved with others in the hobby and science, we have an online discussion forum. Join us and make friends with some of the most knowledgeable people in the reef aquarium scene.
Monthly meetings give us the opportunity to share our concepts with each other face to face. We also have an active social scene within the membership, with tank tours and small get-togethers.

If you would like to become a member of The Cincinnati Marine Aquarium Society simply introduce yourself to the other members in the forum. We have no dues. Simply be a reef keeper (or soon to be reef keeper) in the general vicinity of Cincinnati and have an active interest in hanging with some other reefers to talk shop and you're in. You're guaranteed to get a warm welcome. We would also love to have some info about your tank so don't be shy and post all the detailed specs. Being a member of the society will get you talking to other like minded reef keepers. You're likely to make some great friends and you're guaranteed to learn something.
