One of you pros should make a sticky or something telling all us noobs what are good products to test our water, when to test for each parameter, etc. I for one would find it VERY useful.

Thank you very much for your answers

I've used Salifert for years. I do highly recommend them.

For stuff like amonia, nitrite, nitrate I use cheaper stuff. For cal, mag, iodine, stron, I use salifert.

I heard seachem was a pretty good test kit but have never used them. I am planning on using salifert for everything but the basics then even then I might to get more accurate results.

Even though it is expensive, LaMotte has really good stuff. I use them to test pH and Nitrates.

I am happy with "Aquarium Pharmaceuticals"

Used API for years and never had a false positive. (Aquarium Pharmacuticals). Have used various other brands but I am content with my API. I never recommend the quick dips, never had more flase positives then those.

API for everything they made kits for, except Ca. Verified their alkalinity tests by Salifert, 2 boxes - the same results, 3rd - very slightly differs (less than 1 dKH).

Tried, but don't like Seachem blue boxes kits, like Marine Basic - difficult to distinguish between colors in a shallow depth of the small concave vessels.
Seachem Reef Status (big white plastic boxes) are totally different matter, the positive side is that they have reference solutions to check, if the kit still good. The negative side - kit may stops show correct data in a several months, even being not frozed or overheated. Also quite pricey in retail LFS, cheaper online.
