I think I am seeing bryopsis so I snapped a few shots of it but they are not the best. I was hoping I could get an ID on this. I know I have some hair algea as well. The bad thing is the tank is only 18 days into cycle even thought nitrate and nitrite and undetecable as well as ammonia 0 I am affraid of adding anything so early but I don't want the algea to take over either. aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggg So what do you think it is if ou can tell at all.

Thanks

Green Hair algae.

2 things to do.

1.If thats the onlly rock its on get rid of the rock.

2.Buy some hermits,& prune the algae by hand,& hope it dosent take off.

Well that is what I was hoping it was however it does have feather like on the top of the strand so that is what got me thinking bryopsis. I will be adding hermits and snails in about a week and it has not grown at all from that pic in the last week or so. Thanks for the help.

anyone else? I took out the rock and scrubbed it with a toothbrush in RO water as I did not have any SW made up at the time. If it continues to grow I will scrub the next in SW.

U could try increasing flow.Algae hates flow.

I have a mj 900 in there now but I am going to get either the hydor flo or the loc line to direct flow. For now I scrubbed the rock and going to reduce lighting times until I can get a CUC in there as well.
