I am thinking about adding another pump, possibly in the second chamber close to the first chamber. Drilling thru the back wall. Has any one done this? If so how well did it work out?

I added a second pump on my AP24 (basically the same thing). It was not difficult just make sure you put it in a spot you wont regret later.....Like if you want to add a skimmer or something.

Oh, I added a MJ900 as my 2nd pump

I would suggest putting the second pump in the first chamber and not the second. The second chamber is behind the overflow wall and putting a pump in there is going to create a need for a stronger water flow over the overflow wall. The worst that could happen is that the water would overflow the entire back wall of the filter and you would need to add additional water to the tank to make up for the rise in water level in the main tank itself. If you place it in chamber 1 you are in front of the overflow wall and you won't have to worry about it.
