Just like the title says. What do you use? I am setting up a 18g cube tank and have had sand and LR in the tank for a couple of days. Before that the sand was in an 18t tank curing. In the 2 weeks that the sand has been curing the tanks have remained cloudy. I attribute this to the 4-5" sandbed and a maxijet 900 that constantly digs a hole in the sand.

I need to get one or two smaller ph's for flow in the tank. It is 16" on a side and the maxijet 900 just has too much flow for this. I am thinking a minijet or something of that nature may work, but wanted to get some feedback from others.

lmk what you use. Also, lmk if you have a dsb in your tank.

I use 2 hagan pro3's, 1 powersweep and a empty aquaclear300. Pretty good circulation, but i want more. Thinking of ditching the 2 pro3's and going with a MJ1200. Tank is a 25g tall

In my two ten-gallon nano's, I use one mini-jet in each tank. I'm not sure if they are the 404 or 606 models, but they do have adjustable flow. They work pretty good, although the suction cups on one of the pumps need to be replaced.

In my 10 gallon nano I use a maxijet 600. It is throttled back some and I think I will change over soon to a minijet becasue I am getting a hole dug into my sand as well.
In my two 20 gallon cubes I just set up I am using two minijets 404 pointed towards each other. It give a good mixed flow and I don't have any problems with it digging up my 4" sand bed.

I know they've gotten a bad rap before, but i have 3 rio's in my tank. Not many people have had problems with the smaller version of the rio's up until the rio 800s.
I have a rio 800 running the Aqua-C remora. A rio 180 and rio 90 for water circ. in my 10 gal tank.

Lakerfan, don't worry about it. I actually still use a rio200 to supply my reactor. This is an open thread looking for suggestions. I have had good luck with the little rio 600s on several devices. Only ones that didn't hold up well were the venturi ones.

So far it sounds like the minijets are winning the semi-poll here. I am thinking 2-3 minijet 404s in a cross fire pattern would work well. These are also low wattage, so I can piggyback them onto my wavemaker for the 72g.

thanks for the suggestions thus far.

Keep em coming... :smokin:

I try to do my nano tanks with no pumps. My 20 nano has a sump so the return pump has always supplied ample flow. My 7 bow has just the Aquaclear mini for flow.

If I needed a pump I would use a Rio 800. The larger ones like 1700 and up are the problematic ones. I find the 800 very small and move a good amount of water. Hagens work but I think they are a little big.

I run an Aquaglobe 225 in my 7.5, I got it free from a LFS I frequent. I know they have a bad rep because people were saying the impellers go bad, mine has worked fine for a month.
I like it because it's really small and packs alot of flow.

That coupled with a mini-jet 606 as my return gives me great all-around flow, no dead spots at all.

A MiniJet 404 and a Fluval 1 internal filter -- it holds the anti-phosphate media. I have one in each back corner of the tank, and they're pointed at the front of the tank. I probably have some not-quite-dead spots in the back of the tank, but my corals are out in front, so....

I also have an 18 gallon cube tank I posted pics a couple of weeks ago. The tank is doing awesome. As far as powerheads in that tank im using 2-rio 180 and 1 Rio-90 for circulation an and a rio 180 for my sump return all works great.

i'm running 2 MJ600's in my 20g tall. With the right positioning, it dosen't dig a hole in the corners of my tank anymore. I'm probably thinkin about using a closed-loop system with a mag5 in the future

I have an AquaClear 301 in my 12g. It's small and it's powerful, and you can adjust the flow with a little switch on the bottom. I think it pumps 175gph, and i have it set to pump about half that.

aquaclear1000 powerhead (108gph) and an aquaclear150 external (150gph)

I use a Maxijet 600 for the return from my sump and a Microjet (the larger of the two models) deeper down the tank for more circulation.

dsb1829,

If you want you can stay with your Maxi jet and get a simple spray bar. Just buy 8 or 10 inches of flex hose from Home Depot. Punch some holes in and cap it off.

Just take the PH with you to get the right size.
