Has anyone used any Hydor products? If so how is the quality? I see they have just introduced some inexpensive circulation pumps with magnet holders. I've been given a 10% discount for the next two weeks if anyone wants to be a guinea pig.

There is a posting in the BAR club forum that says there is a recall on some models. However, the members who DO have them thing they are awesome. FYI...

Mine just came in the mail today. I got the lowest one that circulates 400 gph and only uses 3.5w. I'm going to experiment with it in my 20L and a friends 25 show tank.
I'll keep you posted.

Hey Steve, I have a #3 and although it says its rated at 850 gph and the mj1200 is rated at 295 gph they are about equal. the hydor has a broader flow than the mj. the mj flows out of a 3/8" hole, if you put your hand about 6 inches away they both are the same. just my observation

i get to play with them everyday and for the money they work great. I know there is a recall on two of them but i'm not sure which ones. The hydor hasmore random flow than the mj1200.
The mj is more linear if that makes sense.

yes i agree James, and the recall was on the 2 & 3. they said the seal to the motor on some were leaking causing electrical current into the water.

Here is someones review
I love this pump for the price Pros: good flow magnet and suction cup can be placed anywhere. Nice design low watts. Cons: Series 4 is large tank temp up 2 degrees Flow not dispersed enough

Have you found they run hot jeffkluse and or coralfarmer?

no I haven't noticed any heat issues like the rio pumps have.
