What is the best method and tool to use to frag a montipora capricornis? I have a green one that is getting to be too big.
Should I frag the new growth areas or old growth? Use pliers or cutters?

I usually just grab it and snap off what I want Most of mine have grown onto big rocks so I don't have the ability to take them out

The only thing you do have to watch if its tiered and you break the top piece off you might be careful not to bleach the piece that was out of the light

Here is a link you may find useful for fragging capricornis.

I have had good luck gluing the frags with thick CA (Super) glue. The fragging has always been an accident as I am fairly clumsy....

I just fragged mine for the first time recently and I did exactly what mustang did, snap off the piece that you want. I try to go after the area that's being shaded because this is a piece that could die off anyways due to coverage from the top whorls on the cap. Once the frag gets some light, it brightens up again as the new colony re-grows. Good luck and show no fear!:D
