I've been trying to access the website the last 5 minutes and haven't had any luck.
Anybody else having problems?

I was having some trouble a little while ago, but it seems to have resolved.

Honestly, I have no clue what the problem is. It is certainly not on our end, its the webserver. Short of packing up the site and taking it to a different server, Im not sure we have a choice but to deal with the occasional outage. I typically find that when its down its back up within mins.

medic29
02/27/2007, 09:38 PM
This is crazy. I haven't had the server down this much ever. I really think we should say something. I would think in the group's agreement with the hosting company there should be an agreement about the reliability of the server to be up and not have this many down periods.

For my experience it is not just a minute or two, but sometimes many minutes, enough that I can't get on the site while I'm here on RC and end up coming back a few hours later to check things.

The whole server under leaf.phpwebhosting.com is down right now. I sent them a message to inquire about what is going on. If it continues then we may need to find an alternitave.

I was able to get on long enough to see that we lost data and there was a RAID issue. It is down again. I hope they are restoring the data base.

I would like to know when all there work will be completed so we can expect uninterupted service.

Also if we need to purchase a portable USB harddrive to do our own backups then we should look into this.

After they get this fixed they better not have any more problems. I tried to call the phone number and of course they want an e-mail.

This sucks....I can't even get the error message; just says the site cannot be found. I'm bummed...

Maybe we should bring our communication back to this site for now until our regular site gets back up.

What does everyone else think??

Still out of order here too.

My understanding is that they put in a "temp" fix that helped for some today. Tonight they are going to take down the system and do all the repairs. Hopefully tomorrow by mid morning it will be back up and work much better. I have been having issues for the last several weeks on a regular basis. From my experence that if they had a raid controler issue this could cause the problem easily. I would say we should wait until tomorrow and see if they do what they say. I am very hopful.

Horace
02/28/2007, 11:03 PM
Yes guys, I expect there to be problems throughout tonight and possibly tomorrow. Hopefully I get word soon from them that the repairs have been completed. The good news is THEY FOUND A PROBLEM. Up to this point they havent been able to find the problem so it keeps popping up. Lets cross our fingers that once they finish thier work we are good to go.

Hopefully this gets worked out but If you do decide to move the site I would recommend www.ipowerweb.com Ive used them for over 2 years with multiple sites & have NEVER seen nor heard of one down.

It looks like we are back in business...our data has been restored as well, but we did lose the few posts that made it up there yesterday. No biggie I guess..

They indicated they are rebuilding the raid controler that is causing some interuptions. It should be done in about 6 hours.

hounddog01
03/02/2007, 12:20 PM
Hello,

This is a status update regarding leaf.phpwebhosting.com

The RAID array is still rebuilding in the background. It is currently at 36%.
This is impacting performance more than expected and there have been several
periods today of problems.

At the current rate, the rebuild should be completed in about seven hours.

We will continue to monitor the server closely.

I sent them another e-mail.

So did I.

I think this is the last straw. I told them to move us to a different server or we are leaving. I think we are leaving anyway because the cost is more than many other places anyway, but it would be nice if they could get our site back up 100% so we could move w/out any major problems. I plan on backing the whole site up in the next few days and getting it moved over to a new provider. Then I will just have Ben (he paid for the domain name) redirect our domain to the new server.

Thier response...

"Hi Kurt,

I assure you that we are working as fast as we can to get the leaf server back up and running smoothly. We were not aware of any problems until late last week. If we can\'t get things fixed within the next few days, we will completely replace the server. I hope this is agreeable.

Best regards,

Nick"

Just like the response "yeah I sent it, the check is in the mail"

Actions speak louder than words. Sure, they were not aware of any problems and the previous e-mails were sent to....

Just seems odd that we were the only ones having problems....

Oh well, I will try not to rant anymore.

Trust me, I know what your saying. I told them its BS and that I have been telling them for months there is a problem. I really dont think they are going to fix the server, so lets just hope they get a new one fast lol.

We are having temporary problems with our data base. We should have it back online by tonight.

Horace
03/06/2007, 05:21 PM
For ONCE this is not our providers fault. Something screwy happend with our DB this morning and in the process of fixing the problem, I made a boo boo and caused an even bigger problem. Anyway I am hoping to re-open the site tonight, but no promises unfortuantely. On a happy note. the server has been pretty stable today :P

I have not had any problems since the restore. Pat why don't you clear your temp files and delete your cookies. If that does not work clear your history also.

I do this on an every other day basis anyway, that is not the issue. I just tried to log onto the site and it said the domain no longer exists. I would think this is just me but I have tried to log on from my own PC and 5 other PC's at Heartland and 2 at ISU. The website must not like me very much :)

medic29

I am beginning to think it is a security software that is common to these computers. I use a software firewall that used to block some sites on its own without you telling it. Then when it would update its software, it would go back to blocking the sites again. When it did this I would get similar errors.

I also get similar errors when my network is running slow or having issues, but since you tried from other networks I have to assume that is not the issue.

Just some thoughts.
