No, $9 shipped isn't bad at all! I'll get that when the refund goes through in paypal. I'll get 2 orders of them so I have some for later too!!

30mini
01/09/2007, 11:53 AM
well then... another split!

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 11:54 AM
haha, man we are good!

30mini
01/09/2007, 11:54 AM
You ever figure out what/when your trading with gopack?

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 11:54 AM
i also am going to order my cyclo-peeze for 11.95 shipped tomorrow!

30mini
01/09/2007, 11:56 AM
good stuff! That'll be a little added treat for the tank!

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 12:06 PM
yeah, was thinking of trying that rods food!

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 12:09 PM
nevermind would cost almost 40 dollars to ship!

30mini
01/09/2007, 12:11 PM
Well then... probably cheaper to buy some stuff at the store, split the cost, and make that food from your book!

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 12:15 PM
yeah i think so!@

30mini
01/09/2007, 12:24 PM
Theres Jungle Jims down the street from me! I have a blender!

Fusch13

good deal!

30mini
01/09/2007, 12:47 PM

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 12:51 PM
looks cool!

30mini
01/09/2007, 12:52 PM
I mean, you could set that up to do more a day, which for a larger tank would be better b/c he only does this for a 55 w/a 10 gal fuge and 10 gal sump. All it is is float switches, timers, and hoses!

Fusch13
01/09/2007, 12:56 PM
yep....

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 07:52 AM
Morning!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 08:36 AM

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:00 AM
I'm here!! All is good... just my computer, that is less than a year old, crapped out on me this morning! I now have a POS for the time being while they get a replacemnt HD for the one I used to have

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:02 AM

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:06 AM
Also, contacted mdog to arrange pick up of 55 gallone this weekend!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:07 AM
Good deal man! Good deal!! Hope you get it all ready to go!! When you gonna get your basement cleaned out and at least stated to be ready for the new sump??

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:08 AM
What is the lady's name that emailed you?? Is it Catalyst by chance??

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:09 AM
well, im starting on clean up of unfinished side this weekend, but still have to work on the door to storage upstairs before, have to buy things for that!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:09 AM
no it wasnt, her name is Lisa

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:10 AM
doesnt matter just another 15 dollars..haha

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:11 AM
Hmmm... Did she give her SN by chance??
If you need any help, LMK, I'm free on Saturday b/c the wife is going to get her nails done!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:12 AM
nope...ok, ill let you know, not sure what day or time as of yet!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:13 AM
Cool cool!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:14 AM
You may have to wait for a while for a response from Drew... he's probably in school now!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:17 AM
yeah he is

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:19 AM
Yea, well, at least you know you can get it from him for sure! Now, see if Kurt has some extra glass that you can have to make your sump! That way the only thing you have to buy is the silicone!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:20 AM
yeah true, but ill need several peices if i do the design i have!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:22 AM
He said that he had a lot!! I know that he didn't use a ton, and the more he has, the less you have to buy!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:27 AM
very true....if i dont have enough ill just by acylic

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:28 AM
the longest pieces i need are for the refugium area!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:29 AM
You would be surprised at the price of glass!! If I were you, and your using glass for some, I would stay w/glass!! I know that you can buy some 1/4" glass precut to the size you want, and like 4 or 5 pieces, for less than $30!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:31 AM
oh ok nice...ill definently be asking for your help on this project and the plumbing!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:36 AM
You know I'm there!!! I love that kind of stuff!!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:37 AM
the tricky part is taking the return to the sump and tee off too the refugium area!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:38 AM
and of course want to run a valve at the end of refugium so i can increase or decrease the flow...i have to think of what type of light i want over the tank......maybe a 250 watt halide!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:39 AM
i can make a fan bar to blow across the top of tank sometime too, and thinking of it i might want to wait on ATO till i can set it all up together, dont you thing!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:39 AM
a 250W halide would be nice, but if you can find a smaller one, that would be better! Probably something like a 150W or a 70W. Then, you just build some racks out of egg crate, and have the frags up higher toward the light.

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:40 AM
Yea, ATO can wait for sure, b/c you can just drill into a baffle instead of the side of the tank.

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:41 AM
true, but i think i might be able to find a 250 for a decent price here...then i know for sure i wouldnt have to worry where i placed it, and it can be a pendant and i can hang from board above

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:42 AM
yeah the plan actually i thought of has a piece of glass on side of pump return area for a float valve to sit in!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:42 AM
Yea, but if you can find a 150W already in a pendant... even better!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:42 AM
very true!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:47 AM
And, you can just run a 10K bulb, b/c you don't really need that if you just have frags! They will grow better under 10K anyways.. and supplements aren't necessarily needed! But, you can always look for some T5's or even a PC ballast and run T5s

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:52 AM
yeah because i want whats good to grow some good plants for the refugium

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:54 AM
Yea, if you get a halide... get some mangroves!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:54 AM
yeah i was thinking that!

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:56 AM
That'd be awesome!! B/c then when i start my mangrove fuge up, I can get some buds from you!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 09:57 AM
yeah, but where can i get some from?

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:05 AM
Fosters and smith carries them, and you may be able to get some from Scott or maybe Marine Solutions can get them, or maybe Aquatics can get them?

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:06 AM
ok, sounds good...be better if i can see them then order, depends on what shipping is i guess....

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:07 AM
plus im going to want to pick up a PH monitor at some point of time, and maybe an orp monitor if i do ozone, but i do ozone i think id go with the redsea plus ozonizer model, with built in monitor!

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:09 AM
Yea, so then we can make your probe holders and have them ready for the monitors

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:13 AM
yeah had a place designed for that too..lol

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:14 AM
Yea, that can be plastic... and I have some acrylic that we can use for that!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:16 AM
yeah figured that and the float valve holder

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:19 AM
Yea... if you want to mount it upright then yae, if you want to mount it horizontal, then we need to drill into a baffle or the side of the tank.

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:20 AM
upright would be just fine!

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:21 AM
That can be done, no problem!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:24 AM
whew, that sure will be adding some volume to my tank!

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:27 AM
Yea, plus, a nice place for frag grow out... and more H20 for buffer, and easier W/C's!!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:32 AM
yeah thats for sure....

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:45 AM
I'm getting some tile tomorrow from a guy here at work that has some in his basement from when he re-did his kitchen!! He said, "How much you need" and I'm like, "how much you got?" So, he said he will bring in some for me to use!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:48 AM
thats cool!...any hits on orange digi?

30mini
01/10/2007, 10:53 AM
No, none yet... I'm gonna bring the frags I make to the meeting, and maybe I'll sell/trade for something there! It'd be nice to sell the stuff... b/c then I'm on my way to getting my dream tank!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 10:56 AM
yeah true, ill be sending the BN and mille frag with you if i cant come to the meeting for Frankie!

30mini
01/10/2007, 11:00 AM
Sounds good!! What all are you getting from him? You getting 2 frags, or are you trading one and selling the other?

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:25 PM
two frags....the one your getting and some zoo's

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:28 PM
ahhh... what kind of zoa's??
BTW... where'd you go?? Meeting?

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:30 PM
dont know.....hopefully some nice ones.....i went to chipoltes!

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:31 PM
you bastard!!!! I had salisbury steak and mac. and cheese... I have a GC to Chipotle that I still need to use!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:34 PM
Haha, yeah it was yummy....

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:35 PM
havent been out to eat in weeks!

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:36 PM
Yea, it's nice to go out and eat once in a while! They will order Chinese here every so often (sometimes 2-3 times a week  ) and I'll get some General Tso's Chicken here and there! It's always good... better than a frozen dinner that's for sure!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:41 PM
yeah i bring in left overs, but if im planning on buying something, corals, tank stuff i normally dont..but considering i have the frag money coming in, i said what the hey

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:45 PM
Yea, that's true!! I'm gonna talk to the wife when she is in a good modd and ask her if we just keep saving in the piggybank, if I can use that money for my new tank... that would be sweet!!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:47 PM
yeah for sure!

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:50 PM
But... knowing my wife, it will be "For Emergencies only" kind of money :(

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:52 PM
yeah i was going to say thats what she'll say, you need to start your own secret tank starter fund!

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:53 PM
Yea, I would like to... but it's kind of hard when she is always home when I'm selling the coral!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 12:56 PM
well, say you sold it for 5 even ig you sold it for 10

30mini
01/10/2007, 12:57 PM
Yea, but then I have to make change... it's more complicated than you think! She's a little miser too... she will count the money in the piggy bank at every opportunity to make sure I haven't taken any money out!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:04 PM
thats when you open a credit uniion account or someting and tell the guys to paypal it to you..lol

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:06 PM
yeah i arranged for everyone to come over on nights Chelle works..lol

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:07 PM
the the 55 might go over to parents till im cleaned and ready to put it together..lol

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:08 PM
Yea, might be a good idea! If my wife worked at night, I would do that too!! I can always do the paypal thing, it wouldn't bother me, but I like having cash in hand

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:10 PM
well who doesnt but it sorta the same thing, but easier because it goes into a account , and could make interested, so it all goes to tank

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:15 PM
Yea... I may have to do that. I have a credit union account with Kemba, and it's connected to my pay-pal right now. Maybe I'll tell people to do that!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:20 PM
it might be a good idea....thats where i get all my coral and tank money from my credit union! Which now i have 125.00 deposited in weekly

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:23 PM
If I could deposit money into it... that would be nice! Although... I can transfer money from our main account to mine... but that's tracable w/the monthly statements

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:24 PM
yeah it is!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:25 PM
yeah i have this set up through payroll to deposit that amount into savings credit union, and the rest into are joint checking

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:30 PM
I can have a change done here at the mox w/the direct deposit stuff to have like $100 go into my account every other week. But... $100 is recognizable b/c I only bring home $863 per paycheck b/c I carry the insurance.

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:33 PM
just do 25 or 50, its not like your buying tank for a couple mon if not longer!@

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:34 PM
if you did 50 every two weeks, thats 1200 in a year!

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:34 PM
Yea... when I get my raise here in a few weeks, I'll see how much more I make and base it upon that. I should be getting at least a 3% raise... so that will be nice!

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:36 PM
My buddy here at work still wants to buy your sump from you... so the sooner we get the cleaning done, and the 55 done... the sooner you make an extra $60!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:37 PM
very true..lol

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:39 PM
Start cleaning tonight, and just do a little every night till the weekend! Then we can do a major clean and set up!

slovan
01/10/2007, 01:39 PM
Holy cow! You guys split this thread again? Well I think I'm 100+ posts behind. I suppose I better get to reading them! :D

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 01:40 PM
haha

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:44 PM
Catch up man... there's a lot of interesting stuff back there

slovan
01/10/2007, 01:47 PM
Good stuff? All I've been reading about is you whining about buying a house!

30mini
01/10/2007, 01:58 PM
Yea, it's good entertainment isn't it!!! Oh... you wanna hear a funny story about a house we looked at?? Well... too bad, I'm gonna tell it anyways

So, we pulled up, and the curb appeal wasn't the best. The driveway was all tore up, and the lawn didn't look soo good. We decided to go in, and take a look. We went in, and the house is empty b/c nobody is living there. We walked over to a door that went toward the garage. Opened it up, walked into a nice breezeway. Brand new bay window, good nice floor, and then a door to the outside and a door to the garage. We decide to go to the garage... well, the door to there isn't hung well, and is basically falling off the frame. Walking through, it's the old garage which was converted to a small workshop. Not bad size, but cluttered with junk. Then, there is a door to the garage... BIGGEST garage I have EVER seen. But it's cluttered w/junk. A dog cage, wires, just crap that looked like it should be thrown away. The garage is just a frame, and the roof had a hole in it at the peak!! And there's a door to the outside that is open b/c there is an elec. cord going outside to the pond. Basically, anyone could break in and squat!! So, the backyard is in bad shape. All ivy, fence broken, pool looks like crap, and the deck isn't bad. We go back inside, and the kitchen is TINY!! You can't open the fridge unless you stand against the wall! bad, bad, bad layout. to be continued....

30mini
01/10/2007, 02:05 PM
So, there is two rooms back a small hallway off the kitchen and family room. Walking back, the rooms seem okay. Not lighted at all, and a few stains in the hardwood. I am in the hallway, and found the door to the basement. The girls won't go down, so I do anyways. Basement is as big as the house, and a door catches my eye b/c it has writing on it. I walk over, and it has a bolt lock going through the handle. The writing says "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN CLOSED AT ALL TIMES! DOOR TO REMAIN CLOSED AND LOCKED TO PREVENT FIRE!" I think to myself, 'This is a wood door. How is this going to stop a fire?' I also see to the left of the frame, holes in the wall. 'Well, that won't stop a fire either!' I then go upstairs, and tell the girls what I found. They laugh, and we go upstairs to the second floor. Nicely finished, much better than the rest of the house! Looks like someone tried to flip the house, ran out of money, and then left it! So, we leave right after that, and our real estate agent calls the agent that listed the house, and reemed her a new one for having doors unlocked, sh*t everywhere, and a high price! That was a fun house to look at!!

slovan
01/10/2007, 02:33 PM
Awesome story Chris! Sounds like a "diamond in the rough" kind of deal. If the price it right, and you don't mind working on it, maybe it might be worth it?

30mini
01/10/2007, 02:34 PM
No, not worth it! It looked worse than it sounded! And, they wanted $149,900 for the house

slovan
01/10/2007, 02:56 PM
Oh wow, that's a lot of money considering you'll have to put about another 30K in it to make it nice. I was thinking a house in that shape would go for around $100K and you would be able to fix it up and still come in about right where you wanted to be. I guess they priced it like a diamond too eh? :D

30mini
01/10/2007, 02:58 PM
Yea... If I were to buy it, I would go with a bid of maybe $65-70K!

slovan
01/10/2007, 03:01 PM
That'd be cool if you could get it for that. Then you could really do a lot of work to it and make it to how you guys want it.

30mini
01/10/2007, 03:09 PM
Yea... but the wife isn't too keen on doing a lot of work. She doesn't mind painting, and such... but when it comes to ther stuff, she put her foot down :(

Kurt03
01/10/2007, 04:25 PM
sooo what was behind that door?

30mini
01/10/2007, 04:29 PM
I don't know Kurt? I didn't look!

lwalcott
01/10/2007, 06:08 PM
Hey Fusch after making all of that money you ought to join Cincyreef and come to the meeting and win some great prizes. Or you can just send your commision check to me. :D

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 06:32 PM
I would for sure, but dont know if wife will let me, she is due in 3 weeks, and the whole "reef tank" thing is not her fav right now!...lol

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 06:32 PM
I would for sure, but dont know if wife will let me, she is due in 3 weeks, and the whole "reef tank" thing is not her fav right now!...lol Most of money is going to a 55 gallon tank to turn into a sweet refug.sump!

30mini
01/10/2007, 06:37 PM
Yea, if he can get out, he will come! The "Ol ball and chain" has him pretty good right now  sorry ryan... had to say it!

30mini
01/10/2007, 06:39 PM
Ryan, the date changed for the meeting... it's now the 24th instead of next week. So, you have 2 weeks to plan!!

Fusch13
01/10/2007, 07:25 PM
oh i might be able to do that given the baby isnt came or coming....Also I think im trading the montipora for an 5 lb co2 tank and some frozen food, once i find out what type of frozen food it is, but the tank is something ive wanted being i want a back up so i dont have to have down time for co2, what do you think?

Kurt03
01/10/2007, 08:39 PM
the 24th? another wed :( why cant it be tue or thur or fri lol

ryan i think a spare c02 is a good idea, then your not pressed to get the tank refilled right away when you notice its low. How big of a monti you trading for it?

oh and HI LONNIE hows it going? :D

30mini
01/10/2007, 09:08 PM
I think the spare tank is a good idea! Then, like Kurt said, your not pressed to get the one filled! You have a while in between to take it to a place that exchanges/refills tanks! In fact, there is one down the street from my job! If you take Glendale Milford, and head toward Wyoming.. there'sa place called Sparkling Carbonic that will swap out tanks!

Kurt03
01/10/2007, 10:12 PM
they re certified my old paintball nitrogen tank.

lwalcott
01/10/2007, 10:17 PM
Hey Kurt how is everything doing in your tank.

Kurt03

so far so good :) getting good growth out of most stuff and levels are staying pretty consistant using limewater and adjusting with randys 2 part when needed.

Right now my 55 is pretty cramed with stuff waiting to go to the 150 when its ready. Slowly getting it all together. Do you still have your nano or get a big tank again? Did you get moved to the new house? What kind of corals are you keeping? i will have to get you a frag of something someday.

All I have for now is a 12 gallon nano. We're all moved into our new house so maybe sometime in the future I might get another tank. I'm just keeping some zoos, rics and some other softies. I do have a purple tip acro that was a small piece on one of the rocks that has really grown in the nano. It now has about 6, 2-3" pieces on it. Maybe I'll be able to get some frags from it soon.

01/11/2007, 12:19 AM
yea knew you had a nano setup, didnt know if you were planing on setting up a big reef again.. there alot of work sometimes :(
what kind of lighting is on the nano?

That sounds easy enough! Some foods may be hard to find, like the urchin and roe, butwewill be able to find it somewhere!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 07:30 AM
yeah ive been looking for them so far nothing...the fresh seafood and dried seaweed we could make a run to jungle jims....what do you think is powdered sea greens?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 07:49 AM
Geathers got signed to a 6 yr deal!

30mini
01/11/2007, 08:11 AM
Powdered sea greens... bet we can find it at a GNC! If not, Jungle Jims may carry it! Most, if not all, of the stuff is probably at JJ's!

Good deal for the Bengals! We got our defensive end combo that should be good for next year. We still have Sam Adams, we just need to get our LB's back and a solid crew!!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 08:15 AM
well, justin smith isnt signed yet

30mini
01/11/2007, 08:16 AM
He has a contract I thought?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 08:16 AM
the flake food, i forgot to add small pellet food like cyclopeeze...sure does have a little of everything

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 08:22 AM
maybe we can do a run to JJ this weekend, try to price things out, maybe get some of it!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 08:23 AM
the liquid vitimans might be the most expensive maybe, 12 dollar bottle of reef plus maybe

30mini
01/11/2007, 08:27 AM
I have a bottle of the liquid vitamins at home. Not sure I remember what it's called though

30mini
01/11/2007, 08:28 AM
I have Vitachem at home! Almost a whole bottle too!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 08:37 AM
does it have amino acids in it?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 08:38 AM
might have to check that.....Also the powdered greens he mentions he gets it from health stores the brand he used was Aqua Greens

30mini
01/11/2007, 08:39 AM
It does have amino acids in it

good deal, one thing not need to buy......

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:11 AM
Yea, I bought that stuff a while back, and it's in my food drawer at home in my closet.

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:12 AM
Good deal, dont know how much the live stuff will cost

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:17 AM
Shouldn't be too bad! I know that fresh shrimp runs about $6 or so per lb. But, 12 isn't nearly 1 lb!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:18 AM
id hope not...if so thats some big shrimp!

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:20 AM
Yea, really! Well, we can see what the deal is on it. I bet they have the greens at JJ's too... they have a health food section!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:25 AM
probably do....just need to find the frozen stuff...the seaweed they should carry too

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:27 AM
Yea, should be fairly easy to find. We are gonna get some crazy sh*t at JJ's... the people at the check out are gonna wonder what the hell we are doing!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:28 AM
lol...making a work out shake..haha

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:30 AM
I'd do what my avatar is doing if i drank that!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:31 AM
yeah i hear you!

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:41 AM
So, the wife was in a very ****y mood last night! Didn't even get a chance to ask her about the piggy bank... but then she writes me a note this morning that says "Took $20 out of the piggy bank b/c a kid won free lunch from Wendys today. It'll only be $2, but there was only a $20 in the bank." I was like GOD DAMNIT! If I took that money, I would have been shot! But if she does it, it's fine? What the hell?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:43 AM
Haha, welcome to marriage....thats how it works....and the 20 will be used!

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:46 AM
Oh, I know the $20 will be used! I wasn't born yesterday

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:50 AM
haha......lol, but she thinks you might be with that statement on the note!

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:52 AM
Yea, she thinks I was also born in a barn!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 09:54 AM
yeah so does my wife, and i sure the hell dont do enough...lol

30mini
01/11/2007, 09:59 AM
Yea, heard that! I don't help w/laundry, b/c she hates the way I fold clothes, and I don't know where she puts things, and she gets p*ssed when i put it in the wrong place. I also don't help w/dishes b/c she doesn't like how I was them. But, when I don't do these things... I get yelled at!

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:00 AM
I love double standards!!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:07 AM
Oh, trust me i know i know, and the tank is always a thin ice thing..lol which i know you know....

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:12 AM
Yea... it's always a thin-ice thing, UNLESS I sell something out of it, and want to use the money that I just made for it... but any other time, yes, I know how it is!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:31 AM
haha..yeah i cant believe she didnt say a word about the large coral in tank..lol

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:32 AM
Well... your making money off of it, so tell her that if she does say something!!

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:33 AM
Hey, I wanted to ask you, how is the orange digi and the galaxia doing in your tank?? You said the zoas are doing well, but you never said anything about the others!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:33 AM
I doubt she will, she would of by now! salinity is around 22, maybe 23 now

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:34 AM
Next time I'm over, I'll bring my refract so we can check it w/that!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:38 AM
yeah that would be great!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:39 AM
if this coral food is cheap to make and seems all our coral and fish thrive from it, you know we could sell it

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:44 AM
Yea, we could sell it to people on Cincyreef first, to see how much they like it, and then go from there!

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:45 AM
Hows the galaxia and orange digi doing?? Notice any growth on the digi at all??

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:51 AM
not as of yet, just moved the digi up, the galaxia polyps are out!

Hey look we could get these to freeze the food into cubes!

http://www.kitchenfantasy.com/shopping_cart/minicubes.html

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:51 AM
yeah that was my thought on selling, of course first batch is ours! plus itll tell us how much itll cost to do a batch and how much it makes!

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:56 AM
Those minicube trays are pretty cool!! Now, we would just need to figure out a packaging method!

30mini
01/11/2007, 10:57 AM
Well, I'm off to a dentist appt. Be back around 1 or earlier!!:D

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 10:58 AM
for time being, depending on the cube size, if its the same size as the ones in frozen food trays, we can just figure that many cubes and do ziplock baggies for beginning, and if it catchs and people like the stuff we can look into something better!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 12:13 PM
whered you go man?

You must have skipped over that post!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 12:54 PM
yeah didnt see that

30mini
01/11/2007, 12:55 PM
It's all good!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:01 PM
clean teeth ??

Matt, pm'd me which he said the frag looked great and PE is great!

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:05 PM
Yea, teeth are clean :D see?

Good deal for matt then! I sold him that pink base, green polyp stag that's doing well also!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:06 PM
yeah he mentioned that

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:09 PM
Yea... this is his first venture into SPS stuff... so, good deal for him that it's going well!!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:10 PM
yeah, he said he ha a tank crash....also

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:13 PM
yea... that was a while back i think

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:15 PM
yeah, so he said..lol

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:18 PM
Yea... his tank is doing well now... he has a nice set up to be honest! His is plumbed to his basement, and goes first to his fuge, then to a cryptic fuge, then to the sump and back up!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:25 PM
very nice!

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:32 PM
I'm thinking about the cryptic fuge for my big set up... It seems like a really nice thing to have for sure!! I think I heard from Lonnie that someone even empty's their skimmate into the cryptic fuge b/c it feeds the sponges and things that live in there

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:40 PM
hmm, interesting

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:43 PM
Yea, really... you have a chance to set one up b/c your re-doing your plumbing! Find a used 20L tank, and we can use that for it!! I'll have to ask for a cryptic fuge demo or talk at one of the meetings b/c I'm interested to know more about them for sure!!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:46 PM
yeah ive never heard of it before

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:48 PM
Matt has his totally painted black, and has foil over top to keep minimal light coming in!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:49 PM
whats the benefits of it?

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:50 PM
Water filtration... the sponges clean the water! it also helps in the pod population

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 01:53 PM
hmm, ok, couldnt you even do one as small as a 10 gallon

30mini
01/11/2007, 01:59 PM
Yea!! As small as you want, but the reason I say 20 is b/c of the glass thickness... you can drill a 20 easier than a 10!

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:02 PM
Here's a small article written by Tyree
http://www.dynamicecomorphology.com/
Click on environmental gradient, then cryptic zone

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:03 PM
Very interesting little blurb if you ask me!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:05 PM
ok, so if this guy is serious, i offered my montipora for a co2 tank 5 lber, and a 20 gallon tank...which i just asked if that sounded like a good trade!

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:08 PM
Maybe he'll take it?? That'd be a good trade b/c then you could set up a fuge or a cryptic fuge with that 20!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:09 PM
says you cant let large particlite in the cryptic zone

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:11 PM
Right... which means you would need a sponge catching stuff before it goes into the cryptic zone

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:12 PM
Or something else like cheese cloth, a filter sock, or something like that!!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:13 PM
well, the fug was to be built into the 55 gal, which will be close to 20 gals itself, leaving plenty of room for equipment. and the 20 i thought we could try a cryptic fuge....

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:14 PM
yeah thats what i was thinking, or we could get a cap for pvc and fine hole drill it....or drill holes and adhere fine mesh to it!

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:15 PM
Yea, what we could do, is tee off the drain from the tank, and have a ball valve on it to regulate the flow going to the fuge... which would have to be higher than the sump so that we could drill into it to have it drain down to the sump.

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:16 PM
what and where does the cryptic feed and dump too

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:18 PM
It would be fed from the main display, and then dump to the fuge

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:21 PM
so the one line would be split three ways, one to sump, one to fuge, and one to cyptic, then fuge would dump into sump return that way, but i would have cryptic and return from sump tee, to tank
i think i got that right

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:25 PM
Yea, what you do is put a tee on the drain that will go to the cryptic and then down to another tee that would go to the fuge and the main sump chamber. The return would just go straight to the tank with no tees of any sort, unless you put one on there for w/c's that always has a closed ball valve that can be opened at any time for w/c

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:26 PM
thats a decent idea for wc, so where the cyrptic fuge return too? the sump?

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:27 PM
Yea, it returns to the sump, or the fuge, whichever you want it to

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:27 PM
oh ok, so that means ill need a pump.....

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:34 PM
a pump? Why not just use gravity and drill into the side of the tank?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:35 PM
gravity from cryptic to sump, could work

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:36 PM
Yea, make the cryptic the same height as the drain is horizontal, then have the cryptic drain to the sump

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:38 PM
hmm, ok, we will work on that! Where should i get my valves from?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:38 PM
and should i increase the 3/4" drain to a larger?

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:41 PM
Get some ball valves from lowes or the depot whenever you go to get your plumbing! They aren't that expensive. I'd say bump it up to 1" after the 90 to go through the wall, and then back down to 3/4" for each tee

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:43 PM
Tee it off with 1" tees. Probably want to just stay with 1" after the drain, and after the cryptic fuge, make the line 1/2" with a ball valve so there is less flow going to there.

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:43 PM
so, go 3/4", 90 elbow to 1" through wall, then to 1" tee to 3/4?

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:45 PM
ok, so 3/4 90 to 1" carry 1 inch thooughout, and after one tee to cryptic reduce to 1/2" to restrict flow to cryptic fuge...

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:46 PM
Let's do it like this:
3/4" drain from tank, to a 45 elbow to 1" pipe to 1" 45 elbow to straight through the wall to a 1" tee.
From the tee, get a 1"-1/2" reducer fitting, then a ball valve, then enters the cryptic fuge. From the cryptic fuge, use 3/4" drain to sump/fuge.
From other part of tee, let it go to another 1" tee, which will have ball valves on both of them. Use all 1" pipe to feed the fuge and the main sump chamber. So, you really only reduce to 1/2" to go the cryptic fuge, and then a 3/4" pipe coming out of the cryptic fuge to the sump.

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:47 PM
yeah i think we were thinking the same thing..lol

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:48 PM
just have to wait to see if this guy is serious or not about trade!

30mini
01/11/2007, 02:49 PM
Yea, if he is, good deal!!

Fusch13
01/11/2007, 02:51 PM
yeah i think so

30mini
01/11/2007, 03:21 PM
Is it time to go home yet???

Kurt03
01/11/2007, 04:36 PM
Yahooooo i got my panworld pump and got it all setup :D Man this thing is nice, small quite and moves a ton of water :D :D :D :D

You have no idea how happy i am to get that maxijet out of there

30mini
01/11/2007, 04:38 PM
You got rid of the quietone? Isn't a panworld pump an external pump?? That would mean that you drilled your sump. Where's the pictures man ... wheres the pictures

Kurt03
01/11/2007, 04:53 PM
sumps not drilled, plumbing goes up and over the sump. I still have the quite one and am waiting on some replacement parts from them. I will prob fix it and test the two of them and keep the one i like the most and sell the other. What do you want pics of?

30mini
01/11/2007, 04:54 PM
I want pics of everything man... all that you have done so far!! I like pictures... you know that!!

Fusch13
01/12/2007, 06:32 AM
Morning all, Trade is going down with gopack, im getting a 5lb co2 tank and a 29 gallon tank..not a bad deal for the coral!

30mini
01/12/2007, 07:17 AM
that's a good deal right there!! A 29 is a tall tank, so you may want to use it as a QT

Fusch13
01/12/2007, 07:29 AM
so dont us it as cyrptic? what should i use on cryptic?

Fusch13
01/12/2007, 07:30 AM
15 gallon?

Fusch13
01/12/2007, 07:35 AM
also i was reading a CORA members thread this morning and he has a cryptic fuge, and he runs a red light and actinic on it, i pmd him asking about the lights...also he painted three side black and the viewing side has a removable panel, so he can remove to view, which i think is a nice idea..what do you think?
