Ok here it is, thought about it for a while and the best way to get this going is to just start doing something, so here it is.

On the 28th of this month, January, 2007 at 3:00 pm we should meet at Jackson’s on the west side in the bar room.
The reason for this is it’s a good point for anyone coming NM won’t have to travel to the eastside.

We can, for those of us interested, can chat about starting the club, meeting information and future meetings as well as talk about the DIY project that was bought up, talk about joining or not joining MASNA “fees required for club and members,” its not something we have to do right now but should be talked about, and talk about future trading of corals and any other related topic.

I personal think once a month may be too much to start out with, but that is another discussion that should be talked about while we are there.

Those that are interested in joining the meeting please post maybe we can get a head count. Goes for any LFS that want to take part, anyone and everyone is welcome.

If anyone from the east side wants to ride together and get with me, I have room for like 7 people in my minivan.

I think it might be great if we had some hands out like 2007 marine calendars , maybe one of the LFS can help out with that in someway just get with me and let me know the cost or what you have in mind. Don’t really want anyone to leave empty handy or left out.

I’m going to try like crazy to be there on the 28th. My oldest turns 20 on the 29th so I may not be able to stay long. Where is Jackson’s?

Anyone up to bringing some corals to trade? I will definitely have one 1 – 1 ½” Orange Montipora Digita (pretty fast grower fully encrusted on a small piece of rock).

I still have that orange pavona with yellow polyps.
I know I promised a pic the whole tank leaking problem took up my time but I'm almost finished.. That is if anyone is every realy finished.Maybe I can geta pic tonight.
I'll see if I have anything else also. I leave Friday for Florida and plan on spending a few hundred dollars on coral. I'm taking a large styro container, battery powered bubbler, and a heater with me.:rollface:

Just a question would anyone be interested in some South Down sand. I notice everyone is going crazy trying to get it. My wife works as a expiditer for Home Depot and is trying to see if she can get a store transfer and it would probably be easier to get a larger quanity. I was going to get 400lbs for myself but if anyone else is interested maybe I could get a whole pallet.

Since its Friday I thought I would bring this back to the top. Still happening? Mitchellmoto I still have a few frags I’m willing to bring and I am interested in the orange pavona. I don’t have any Xenia so would be willing to trade something for that if anyone has any. Anyone else bringing anything? I don’t want to take them out of the tank if it is not necessary.

I'm realy sorry Jay, I'm an exterme procratinator. I will be there Sunday. I will send you a pic of the pavona tonight. It is realy hard to take a photo of because the pics never show the flourecent yellowish green polyps. The pics look like a fuzzy orange coral. It might just be the VHO lighting that makes the polyps stand out more in the tank? I bought more corals in Florida. I just got back a few days ago. Actually $1200 dollars worth of coral. I also have tons of xenia. If you want some. what sizes are your frags so I know what size to bring? I actually have two types of xenia so I'll take pics of a few different corals I'm willing to frag. Once again I'm sorry I've taken so long to get this pics to you. Right now I've been pluming a closed loop circulation system and my refugium on my new 180. And been busy laying parque flooring through out my house not to mention a few other dozen things I've started around the house .I've got so many projects going right now I'm thinking of hiring someone to come help with a few things.:eek:

Sam if it wouldn't be too trouble could you bring that XL berlin skimmer for me to look at. It might be too tall to fit under my tank but I'd like to see it.

Great! Both of the hard corals are about 1” – 1 ½” tall. I have a small rock with about 10 polyps of the orange zoo’s also. Wow $1200 in frags! That is great.

Sam I don't know if it is wild or not. I had originaly bought two pieces one was actually from you and The other was for Coral Island. They where both small. Now I have well over a dozen of the one type and a few dozen of the other. I don't know species. One has a stalk with multiple branches, it pulses. The other, which I'm not sure if I want to *** yet, grows as a single stalk with one head. looks similar to a mini palm tree, and it grows almost like star polyps. Just a hundred individual ones. I'm trying to grow these all on the bottom. I looks like pinkish purple swaying grass. Just so you guys know I will be setting up a new tank for frags only and will be propagating as much xenia as possible. It is one of my favorite corals. Simple I know but me and my wife love it. I will try to get those pics when I get home and I'll try to find a ruler to show size. I surely have enough to give a few away so when I send the pics let me know. I should be home around 3:00 and I try to do it first thing. I'm interested in both of the hard corals so if I have what you like we will certainly trade.
Out of all that coral I lost two nice peices a fuzzy acro and a green bali slimmer and lost 80% on a green monti. All from the same store. Needless to say I won't be going back there. They bagged them poorley and I think they ran out of o2 and didn't tell me. Sorry for being long winded.
And yes I talk just as much!:p

While I'm not going to be able to make it on Sunday I will be in El Paso next week sometime and would love to stop by The Coral Reef. I would love a piece of that zenia if you have enough to spare and Sam would be willing to hold it for me until I could get there to pick it up.

I'd trade this orange monti.
It has gotten a little browner under these10k bulb compaired to them being bright orange under my 20k bulbs. This is the actual frag. And it grows fast.

I think I'll only want to get rid of 3 frags of xenia but I'll try for 4. Only one of any of the other frags. I need to know by tomorrow so I can cut and secure the frags to a rock. Only takes me a few minutes but I'd like to have some for warning. And I won't cut if nobody wants any.

well just to say , walmart has sand that can be used i havent personal tested but what i have read here on rc and somewhere else. just havent seen it in any color but: red,green, blue,yellow. it another Southdown diffent lable. white castle play sand, or something like that.

Killing seed are you offering zoo's for the gorgian. Or did I take your post wrong. If you are I'd trade if you can trade a few different kinds. Also I'll bring you a mangrove. I won't charge you anything because they lost some leaves. Almost all my mangroves died when The tank broke and then when I went to Florida a friend watching the house didn't top off the water. so they died. I will be ordering a whole new shippment real soon then I'll sell you some or trade some for more zoo's

I'm pretty sure it is a Red Finger gorgonian. It seems to be doing great. I feed it a few times a week with baby brine shrimp. It doen't like to be touched much. When you touch any part of it all the polyps suck in and don't come back out for a while. There is a small piece that broke off. I will be keeping the small piece. But for all I can tell great shape. Killingseed most of my mangroves died when my tank broke and them a house sitter didn't top off the tank and it heated up and the salinity skyrocketed. The few left aren't in the greatest shape so I said I'd bring you one and just give it to you because I promised you some and when I get the new shippment in I get with you and you can buy or trade for more.

As far as price on xenia what sounds fair. $10 bucks?

I'm not sure who all wants xenia. The people I have are Jay, Sam, Killingseed and starbrovos.

Wild-tiger I'm going to give the xenia to the people that will be at the meeting. But do not worry if you look at the pic of my xenia it was just taken and you can see almost every stalk is getting to split x3. some are ready to split x4. And if I could get my room finished and the frag tank set up I won't just wait for xenia to split I'll help them along with a razor!!

Hey mitch, Sorry I coulndt come to the meeting, I had class and I spoke to sam yesterday and told him Id try to make it. So you might have found out before I posted this. If you still have the xenia I will be willing to buy it off of you. You got it. I did not bring it today because I had some other things I had to do in EP and did not want him out of the tank that long and in the car. I believe Sam is closed tomorrow so you may want to check with him. I will however bring it tomorrow with me to work and you can pick it up. You can call me and we can figure out a drop off point.
