Quick question,
I manually add a cup of water for evaporation to my 10 gal nano every day or two and I wanted to start adding pickling lime (kalk). I wondered if adding that much in at a time would be too much of a shock. Any idea's.

I often add kalk but drip it in slowly in the morning rather than all at once as it could cause a rapid increase in pH.

I bought one of those kent dosers for my autotopoff.
Looks like an i.v. drip coming out of the cabinet above my nano.
Add DI water to it and adjust the drip rate. For me it's about 1 drop every 40 sec in 7gal nano with a fan blowing on the water.

You can add some kalk or other additives to the reservoir.
Much more stable for me now.

I evaporate approx. 1-2 cups every other day out of my 14gallon nano. What I did is I made this acrylic container that holds about 1-1/2 gallons of water and I dose pickling lime 27/7. Now the key to dosing is to make sure that the calk/lime does not settle on the bottom so that's when I added a small MJ404 on a timer to keep the calk mixed at all times. Works very good.

you don't want to dose ANY of the powder. only the clear liquid so i hope you are not stirring your whole container up!!!
